At CoBank, our Senior Storage Engineer is responsible for the architecture, implementation, and support of CoBank's enterprise multi-platform storage environment. The Senior Storage Engineer will manage the maintenance of the storage platform along with the administration of CoBank's Enterprise Backup environment which includes an IBM Automated Tape Library (ATL), Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) systems, backup job policies and scheduling, and tape media inventory. The engineer provides reporting, analysis, and automated management of physical and logical storage availability, capacity, configuration and performance. The engineer ensures Service Level Agreements are met, develops and maintains documentation related to system processes, policies, and procedures, and collaborates with other Storage Engineers and Server Administrators in the execution of duties. Senior Storage Engineer may lead other staff members and participate with other IT teams on major projects or implementations.

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a relevant discipline
  • 6+ years' experience as a storage administrator, implementing, configuring, administering, monitoring, and supporting storage systems; or appropriate combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline
  • Advanced experience in unified (SAN/NAS) storage management with strong understanding of NetApp hardware products and software suite including Data ONTAP and Snap Manager utilities.
  • Direct administration experience with NetApp Clustered Data ONTAP 8 and knowledge of NetApp Clustered Data ONTAP 9.
  • Experience in the set up and monitoring of data replication technologies for disaster recovery purposes.
  • Expert in the maintenance and trouble-shooting of storage arrays and SAN infrastructure.
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of storage monitoring tools.
  • Advanced knowledge in backup maintenance and debugging, preferably in a Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of networking concepts, components and protocols (e.g. router, switch, hub, TCPIP, VPN).
  • Experience working in a multi-datacenter environment and performing various disaster based recoveries.
  • Ability to work directly with customers, vendors, and management.
  • Excellent problem solving, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • 24 x 7 on-call support and occasional travel required.
  • Experience in banking or financial services industry preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows/Microsoft Office/Microsoft Active Directory, Oracle Solaris, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, VMware, and Brocade technologies is desired.
  • Knowledge of IT Service Management and Operating methodologies (e.g., ITIL) desired
