Plans and coordinates education and care of patients/persons with diabetes across a continuum in collaboration with other disciplines, community agencies and Sentara subsidiaries. Provides staff education, educates/counsels patients to promote wellness and prevention of complications in persons with diabetes. Serves as a clinical resource person for the clinical staff serving the inpatient population.

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is hiring a part-time (24-hours/week) Diabetes Educator.

Min of 3-years diabetes experience is required.

Prefer experienced CDE for both inpatient and outpatient services, RN with diabetes experience, or RD MNT in diabetes.

Other
Certification in Diabetes Education (CDE) required within two years of hire. Expert clinical skills in diabetes patient education/care. Ability to perform all interventions and procedures necessary to care for diabetes patients.
