Antique 19th Century Frame with 1950s Tapestry - $1500 (Denison Tx)
This is an antique 19th century frame with a 1950s tapestry.
Very ornate gesso compost oak and gold gilt frame. In very good condition. These type frames were used for portrait painting at the French Art School Barbizon. The textured background on the frame was done with netting and dates this frame around 1850s I believe.
The tapestry was added later, 1950s-1960s or so, as you can see in the images of the back of the frame. It is also in very good condition.
Frame measures 31" by 22".
This is a porch pick-up in Denison TX. Serious offers considered. Cross-Posted.
